
The town of Falcarragh in the Parish of Cloughaneely has a number of sites of interest including Ballyconnel House dating from the 18th centure was the seat of the Olphert family landlords of the parish up until the 1920s when the estate was sold. Claich Cheann Fhaola is a famous white stone that is reputedly stained with the blood of Mac Aneely a mainland Chieftan who was said to have been beheaded on the stone by Balour the mythological king of Tory Island the name of the area being derived from the myth. Teampaill Raithe said to have been founded in the 6th century by St Fionan.
