New Website Launched

Donegal Self-Catering Association has launched a new generation website on the anniversary of their 10th year in existence. The website www.donegalselfcatering.ie promotes 40 self-catering businesses across county Donegal.

All businesses featured on the website are approved by Failte Ireland and meet the standards required. The site is funded under the Rural Development Programme through the Donegal Local Development Company and developed by OSD.

The aim of this programme is to increase the visability of rural tourism accommodation providers on-line which grows their capacity to attract visitors and revenue to the local area.

Chairman of the site, Pat McGarvey said “the site focuses on the needs of the visitor, it’s easy to access with an  on-line booking facility, interactive map, details on activities as well as featuring places to see, heritage  sites, our rich culture and events which make up a memorable holiday visit to County Donegal”

Máire Aine Gardiner of Failte Ireland noted that “Marketing to attract overseas visitors is very challenging as a sole tourism provider.
The work of Donegal Self-Catering Association over the last 10 years shows that collective marketing can be successful especially when trade embrace technology and make it work for them.”
